What are tags?
A tag is a term or keyword you apply to a stikkit to identify it as part of a logical group. Tags work similarly to category names or folders, but are much more flexible because you can set up your own tagging system (also known as a folksonomy) however it makes most sense to you. You can also apply more than one tag to a stikkit.

Tags can be single words or multi-word phrases, and can contain numerals and symbols.

To begin tagging, think about how you'd like to group stikkits together. Here are suggestions for tagging setups that have worked for us:

tag based on the roles in your life: home, work, volunteer, coach

tag based on your physical context: desk, car, phone

tag based on the people they involve or affect: Mario, Mimi, Luke

tag with priority levels: "P1 Urgent", "P2 Important", "P3 When I can"

tag by project name: "TPS report", fundraiser, "kitchen remodel"

How do I tag a stikkit?

To tag a stikkit, anywhere in the body of the stikkit, type the hint "tag as" followed by a space and the name of the tag. If the tag contains more than one word, place the words inside quotation marks, and separate multiple tags with commas. If you prefer, you can use the hint "file in" or "label with." You can also use the shortcut character "@."

Examples:

tag as home, errand

file in "TPS report", fundraiser

@Jim, urgent

Viewing tags

Click the List My Tags icon to see a list of all your tags (also known as a tag cloud). The more often you use a tag, the bigger it appears in the tag cloud, giving you a visual representation of what you're working on. Click a tag to view only those stikkits associated with that tag.

How do you enter a tag?

Is it something like this: e.g. tags "home" or tag "home" or tag home I don't know how to do this. Thanks.

If your tag is "home," then type "@home" at the end of your note. Longer version: "tag as home."

The GTD crowd tend to like to use the @ symbol in their methodology.

Examples:
@office
@computer

Is there a way to include this character in the name of the tag?

Try typing the symbol twice, as in "@@calls"

No, you can't do that currently.

How do you make sure you're tagging later stikkits with the same tag you've set up before? Is there a way to pick tags from a list of existing tags instead of typing into the new stikkit? If you create a tag in one stikkit (@office), then use a variation on a later stikkit (@ouroffice), won't stikkit create a new tag?

No, tags are free-form.

Yes, it would.

Hi,

Is there a way to search for notes that contain all the tags specified in the query?

Also, it would be nice if after clicking on the tag cloud, you could refine your search by clicking again on a tag within the cloud.

Thank you,

Is it possible to make a bit invisible, such as 'remember' but so it still does the action? i find my posts look a bit disorganised and random!

Thanks
